Barca won their second consecutive La Liga title under Hansi Flick last season, finishing eight points clear of their Clasico rivals. They sealed the championship with a 2-0 victory over Madrid at Camp Nou in May, with goals from Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres.

However, Los Blancos have responded aggressively during the off-season. They replaced Álvaro Arbeloa with Jose Mourinho as manager and made three notable signings: Marc Cucurella from Chelsea for a reported €60 million (£51.8 million), along with free agents Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate.

Olmo insists Barcelona are not worried

Despite the activity of Madrid, Olmo remains confident in the position of Barcelona.

Olmo told Sport it was normal that, after two years without a win, Madrid had reinforced, that they were world-class players, but that Barcelona were not worried. He added that Barcelona had made a great signing with Gordon and that the club was happy.

Barcelona have also strengthened their squad with the addition of England international Anthony Gordon. Olmo believes the squad is well-equipped to compete at the highest level.

Both Olmo and Cucurella are currently with the Spain squad at the World Cup. Olmo revealed that Cucurella kept his move to Real Madrid quiet but wished his friend well ahead of the renewed domestic rivalry.

Olmo added that they had not expected it and that he had kept it inside. He said that if that was what he wanted, he was happy for him because he was his friend. Now Madrid would have to suffer in the league, and so would Barcelona. He would have to suffer against Lamine Yamal, for example.

Olmo insists Barcelona are not worried about the Madrid signings, and he remains confident in the Barcelona position. Barcelona back their own squad, which Olmo believes is well-equipped to compete at the highest level.
